U-14's Secure Excellent Treble   27/05/2015

U14 GFA Cup Final
Maree/Oranmore 0-4 Mervue Utd

The club’s U-14 team completed a treble for the season following an impressive 4-0 win over Maree/Oranmore in the final of the GFA Cup on Wednesday night at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Ben O'Gorman headed in a Colin Kelly free-kick on 28 minutes to give Mervue the lead and just two minutes later they doubled that advantage.

Conor Shaughnessy shot across the face of goal and Matthew Cooley picked up the ball before shooting into the roof of the net on the half hour mark to give Mervue a 2-0 interval lead.

After the break they continued to push forward and Colin Kelly smashed home a cracking strike from outside the box into the top corner to make it 3-0.

Five minutes later and an excellent ball from Matthew Cooley set up Colin Kelly who coolly lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper for 4-0 as they ran out comfortable winners.

It has been a great season for Coley Kelly and Pa O’Connell’s side having already secured the Premier Division league title back in April and they added the Connacht Cup title earlier this month as they made it a clean sweep of all local titles.

Well done to Coley Kelly, Pa O'Connell and the lads on a great campaign
