The club's U-15's completed the league and cup double with a cup final win over city rivals Salthill Devon in Eamonn Deacy Park last night.

It proved to be the Aaron Connolly and Ronan Manning show as both players between them scored all ten of Mervue's goals, Connolly hitting a double hat-trick of six and his strike partner Manning hitting the other four.

Aaron Connolly opened the scoring after just 11 minutes knocking home the loose ball after Adam Kelleher's initial shot had been saved by the Salthill keeper. Connolly was then taken down in the box on 21 minutes and Manning converted from the spot for 2-0.

Connolly doubled his tally ten minutes later as he race through before firing a powerful finish past the Salthill keeper for a 3-0 half time advantage.

Manning quickly doubled his tally two minutes after the restart chipping the ball over an over worked Salthill keeper after Connolly had set him up with a brilliant through ball. Connolly then completed his hat-trick on 47 minutes before Salthill pulled two goals back in their best spell of the game between 53rd and 67th minutes to make it 5-2.

But Mervue finished very strongly as Connolly added a second hat-trick with three excellent finishes to bring his tally to six on the night.

Manning added another two in between, with his third goal being the strike of the night on 75 minutes. Picking up a pass just outside the box he brilliantly curled an effort into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

Well done to Damien Brennan, Derek Lally and their squad on an excellent season. 

The team will be presented with the U-15 Premier Division League Cup having won all 15 games to date after their final league game at home to Maree/Oranmore this Saturday afternoon at Fahy's Field, kick-off 1.30 pm.
