U-12 Connacht Cup (Quarter Final)
Mervue Utd 4-1 St Josephs (Athlone) Mervue United's U-12 team advanced to the semi finals of the Connacht Cup following a 4-1 win over Athlone side St Josephs at Fahy's Field last Saturday afternoon.
Tom Kidd struck twice while Liam Melody and Morgan Moroni added the other goals as Eric Connolly and Owen Shaughnessy's side continued their unbeaten run this season in all competitions.
U-14 Connacht Cup (Quarter Final)
Mervue Utd 3-0 Castlerea Cltic (Roscommon) Mervue United's U-14 team also advanced to the semi finals of the Connacht Cup following their 3-0 win over Roscommon side Castlerea Celtic at Mervue 2 last Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless opening period where both sides missed good chances, the home side struck three times in the second period as Keelan Craven, Conor Shaughnessy and Mikey Devaney all found the mark to send Coley Kelly and Pa Connell's side into the last four.
U-16 Connacht Cup (Quarter Final)
Iorras Aontaithe 1-3 Mervue Utd Mervue United's U-16 team completed a treble of wins for the club as they advanced to the semi finals of the Connacht Cup following their 3-1 away win over Mayo side Iorras Aontaithe last Saturday afternoon.
Two first half goals from Ronan Manning, the first a 25 yards strike, and the second from the penalty spot had them 2-0 up at the interval. Irish international Aaron Connolly added a great individual goal in second half to seal a great away win to ensure Ollie Neray and Ollie Keogh's side advanced to the last four.
Well done to all three teams on a great weekend.
