Mervue Utd’s U-11's captured the Galway Cup at Eamonn Deacy Park last Sunday afternoon with a 3-2 win in the final over city rivals Salthill Devon. 

Goals from Baba Adeeko, Liam Melody and James Egan saw them claim the cup in a very exciting finale to the competition. Earlier in the day two goals from James Egan were enough to see them into the final following a 2-0 semi-final win over Colga FC. 

Well done to Eric Connolly, Owen Shaughnessy and their young squad on an excellent season having also captured both league and cup at U12 B level in Division one.

Meanwhile the U11 B squad also qualified for the finals day in Eamonn Deacy Park last Sunday afternoon.  Goals from Joseph Ambrose and a wonder strike from Elijah Mulroy ensured they advanced to the semi-final of the shield competition after a 2-0 win over Bearna Na Forbacha in the quarter final. In that semi-final they lost out to eventually winners Craughwell Utd after a brave display. Well done to Alan Flanagan and his young squad on some great performances in the competition.
