Junior B Team End Season on Winning Note   20/05/2014

Knocknacarra FC 4-5 Mervue Utd B (First Division)

The club's Junior B team claimed a dramatic injury time winner in their final league game of the season on Monday evening as they defeated Knocknacarra FC in a nine goal thriller played at Cappagh Park.

A rare goal from winger John Moran opened the scoring as he produced a good finish for 1-0 before Eoghan O'Boyle doubled Mervue's advantage with the first of his hat-trick on the night.

The  home side pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 before Eoghan O'Boyle struck for his second of the night to leave it 3-1 at the interval.

Knocknacarra then produced a fightback as Keith O'Shaughnessy scored twice after the restart to draw them level at 3-3 before Eoghan O'Boyle registered his hat-trick to make it 4-3 to Mairtin Higgins side.

With the three points looking secured the home side had other ideas and struck for a last minute equaliser to level once again for 4-4.

But that wasn't to be the end of the scoring as deep into injury time Dave O'Boyle fired a 95th minute winner following a corner to hand Mairtin Higgins a fitting final win in his final game as manager.

The club and players would like to wish Mairtin the best of luck in his retirement from management and thank him for all his hard work on behalf of the club over many years managing and coaching club teams.
