U14's Capture Coley Smyth League Title   23/04/2014

Mervue Utd A 6-1 Galway Hibernians (Coley Smyth U14 Premier Division)

The club's Under 14 A team captured the Coley Smyth Premier Division title following a comfortable 6-1 win over Galway Hibernians at Fahy's Field on Wednesday evening.

Aaron Connolly continues in hot scoring form as he struck twice in the opening half to give the home side a 2-0 interval lead.

Only needing one win from their final two remaining league games the result was never in doubt in this game as Aaron Connolly added two further second half strikes to bring his tally to four for the game.

Strike partner Colin Kelly also got in on the act as he struck a double to add to Connolly's four goal haul as Damien Brennan and Rynal Browne's side ran out 6-1 winners to complete a league and cup double.

After the game the Galway FA's rep Donnie Farragher presented the team with their league winners medals and Mary Kelly, daughter of Coley Smyth, presented her grandson, Colin Kelly, with his great grandfather's memorial cup on a wonderful night for the Smyth and Kelly families.

The under 14's season is far from over as they can now look forward to a Connacht Cup final in two weeks time and an Irish Cup (SFAI Goodson Cup) All Ireland final in Dublin in mid May.
