Official Re-Opening of All Weather Pitch   10/12/2013

Mervue Utd will officially re-open their newly re-surfaced Full Size All Weather Pitch this Friday night at Fahy's Field at 6 p.m.

The new pitch will be officially re-opened by Minister for Sport, Michael Ring TD, and FAI CEO John Delaney and the Mayor of Galway City, Cllr Padraig Conneely, will also attend the opening in Mervue.

The club is delighted to continue it's policy of investing heavily in the playing facilities at Fahy's Field for our club members and other sporting organisations who use our wonderful facilities. With the upgrading of the playing surface of the Full Size All Weather Pitch to the best standard currently available on the market, which once approved by the FAI will allow the club to play competitive matches on the pitch should the need arise due to unplayable grass pitches.

The club has invested a further €360,000 in the facility, which has been funded by a â‚¬190,000 capital sports grant awarded last year and the further €170,000 being raised by the club itself to complete the upgrading which has also seen the size of the pitch increased.

The club will also hold their Juvenile underage awards for both boys and girls from Under 11 to 16 on Friday night at the clubhouse at Fahy's Field after the official opening.

All are welcome to attend on Friday night.
