U19's Draw in Eight Goal Thriller   03/11/2013

Bohemians 4-4 Mervue Utd (Airtricity U19)

The club's Under 19's came from 3-0 down with ten men to secure a share of the points with Bohemians at Dalymount Park on Saturday afternoon in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Justin Neary's side came from three goals down, after the home side raced into a commanding lead with just half an hour gone and Mervue's Michael James having seen red on 22 minutes, to actually lead 4-3 but Bohemians secured a late leveller.

Goals from Paddy Collins and Eoin Rhodes put Bohs 2-0 in front inside the opening 20 minutes before Michael James was red carded to reduce Mervue down to ten. Collins doubled his tally on the half hour mark to then make it 3-0 to the home side who looked on course for a comfortable win.

But Mervue started the fight back just before the break when Aaron McDonagh finished Padraig Cunningham's cross to the net on 42 minutes to make it 3-1 at the interval.

Mervue brought on Andrew Connolly for the second half as they looked to get back in the game and Cunningham made it 3-2 six minutes after the break when he beat the offside trap and rounded the home keeper to score.

Dillon Murphy levelled matters with 20 minutes to go when his corner kick when straight in to make it 3-3 and an amazing comeback by the visitors.

It got better with five minutes remaining when midfielder Moise Assogba struck a terrific effort from 25 yards off the underside of the crossbar and into the net to lead 4-3.

But a minute from time and the home side claimed a point when they drew level through Adam Kelly  but Cunningham almost put Mervue back in front in injury time when his shot was pushed onto the crossbar by the home keeper.

Great credit to this young Mervue side for the manner in which they battled hard particularly in the second half to earned a result from a game that looked lost after just half an hour.
