Mervue Utd 4-2 Hibs/Foyle (U18 Premier Division)

The club's youth team went top of the GDL Premier Division following a 4-2 league win over Hibs/Foyle at Fahy's Field on Wednesday night.

Full back Eric Neary opened the scoring as he cut in from the right and fired an excellent effort into the bottom corner.

Neary set up the second goal for a simple finish for Richard Fahy to make it 2-0 before the visitors pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 at the break.

Second half sub Ryan Manning restored the two goal advantage with a stunning third goal in the second period as he volleyed home a Paul Healy freekick before Hibs/Foyle reduced it back to 3-2 from the penalty spot.

Manning ensured all three points with another stunning free-kick for his second of the game and a 4-2 win.

With just two games left the Youths continued their league campaign with an away game with Corrib Celtic in Annaghdown at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
