Juniors Travel to Longford in EA Sports Cup   06/05/2014

EA Sports Cup 2nd Round
Longford Town v Mervue Utd

The club's Junior team make the trip to the City Calling Stadium to face Airtricity League side, Longford Town, in the second round of the EA Sports Cup this evening (Tuesday). Kick off 7.45pm

Having wrapped up the Brod Trill Premier League title last Thursday night with a 2-0 win over Galway Hibernians in Bohermore, Gary O'Connor and Ger McGrath's side can travel to Longford and enjoy the game with the local league title safely secured for a fourth successive season.

Having received a bye in round one, Mervue will be hoping to cause an upset in the cup and join Galway FC, who defeated Finn Harps last night, in the quarter final draw later this week.

They certainly won't lack from Airtricity League experience as goalkeeper Brian O'Donoghue, defenders Eric Browne, Tommy Walsh, Shane Keogh and Simon Walsh, Seamie Crowe, Barry Moran and Alex Lee have all tasted League of Ireland football in the past.

O'Connor does have injury concerns over goalkeeper Brian O'Donoghue (shoulder), Shane Keogh (ankle), and Dan Tuck (hip) after that league win last Thursday night, while some players may not travel due to work commitments.

Kick-off at the City Calling Stadium is at 7.45 p.m. and there will be updates on the club twitter and facebook pages this evening.
