Waterford Utd Await in FAI Ford Cup
21/08/2012
Johnny Glynn's first team squad will take a break from Airtricity League action this week as they are in FAI Ford Cup action against fellow First Division side Waterford Utd at the RSC on Friday night.
This is the first time since the club entered the Airtricity League in 2009 that the first team have advanced to the third round but they will face a tough task to progress to the last eight, as Waterford have won all six previous meetings at the RSC and will enter the game as hot favourites to progress.
Glynn's side defeated city rivals, SD Galway, in the second round at Eamonn Deacy Park back in May when two second half goals from Pat Hoban and Etanda Nkololo secured a 2-0 win and the passage to the third round.
A win on Friday night would send the club into the quarter final of the FAI Cup which would be a great boost to the profile of the club and also give Glynn's squad a huge confidence lift for the remaining league games.
Kick-off at the RSC on Friday night is at 7.45 p.m.
