Mervue Utd 1-0 East Utd (Premier Division)

Padraig Kilgannon's Junior A team collected another valuable three points in their bid to retain the Brod Trill Premier League as they recorded their tenth league win in a row after a narrow 1-0 win over neighbours East Utd in Sunday's local derby game

The only goal of the game arrived in the opening minute as Stephen Larkin latched onto a through ball before coolly slotting the ball past Anthony Ryan for 1-0.

Larkin flashed another effort just wide of the post after that and Tommy Walsh also went close with a well struck effort which just cleared the crossbar and Larkin had another effort just over after brillant movement created the shooting chance. 

Aaron Finnerty did well down the right wing before picking out an unmarked Stevie Cunningham in the box but he flashed his header just past Ryan's post as the home side should have gone 2-0 up.

It was a differant story after the break though as East Utd did all the attacking as they tried to force an equaliser as the home side seemed to sit back and defend their narrow lead.

The home side had young keeper Cillian Murphy to thank as he produced a brillant save tipping Christain Ryan's well struck effort onto the crossbar, while both Keith McHugh and Vinny O'Connor made a number of vital headed clearances throughout the second period.
