Finn Harps the Visitors this Evening 2013-07-19 08:47:00

Mervue United Team News v Finn Harps

Friday 19th July 2013, Fahy's Field (Kick-off 7.45 p.m.)

Mervue Utd welcome Finn Harps to Galway for the second time this season in the Airtricity First Division on Friday evening at Fahy's Field with kick-off at 7.45 p.m.

Johnny Glynn and his squad will be hoping to continue their good home record this season and add another win to keep the pressure on at the top end of the table. Following on from the city derby win over Salthill Devon two weeks ago they secured a solid away point after a scoreless draw with third placed Waterford Utd at the RSC last Friday.

The squad will boosted by Ryan Manning's inclusion in Republic of Ireland Under-18 squad named yesterday for two friendlies in the UK next month. Ryan has been in excellent form all season banging in goals for fun for the club's Under 19, Youths and Under 17 sides and has continued that goal scoring touch in the Airtricity League with five goals in the First Division to be Mervue's leading scorer so far this campaign.

Paul Sinnott remains doubtful with a foot injury while, captain Tom King and Barry O'Mahoney both remain unavailable as they travel back from the World Universities Games in Russia were the Irish team finished fifth. Glynn will welcome back defender Stephen Walsh from a three game suspension, while Joe Woods misses the game through a one game ban for four yellow cards accumulated.

Glynn on Friday's game "There is no doubt that Finn Harps have one of the best squads in the division and I still expect them to mount a challenge after a recent rocky patch. We will be looking to build on our recent two results and put a run together."

Finn Harps will look to put an end to their six game winless streak in the league when they travel to Galway They last recorded a league victory over Mervue at home back in May and since that 1-0 win at Finn Park, Harps have picked up just two points. Manager Peter Hutton has added Pat McCann, Lee Toland and Shane McGinty to his squad while Marc Brolly, Thomas McBride, Matthew Crossan and goalkeeper Rory Kelly have all departed. Hutton will have Keith Cowan available after suspension but  Damien McNulty and Thomas McMonagle remain sidelined.
