Shanahan Double Wins City Derby

Two second half strikes from Gary Shanahan secured all three points in the City derby game at Fahy's Field on Saturday evening as the home side overcame Salthill Devon to win 2-1 for the second time this season.
After a scoreless opening half a quickly taken Michael McSweeney free-kick released Shanahan in for his first on 51 minutes as he blasted past Ronan Forde into the far corner.
Salthill's Enda Curran saw red on 78 minutes for a foul on sub Joe Woods before the visitors level matters when down to ten men as sub Oscar Sibanda chipped Conor O'Malley with nine minutes remaining after running onto a Colm Horgan long ball over the top.
The home side hit back with five minutes left as debut man Michael Duffy pulled a super ball back to Shanahan and he fired a carbon copy finish of his opening goal into the far corner past Forde to make it 2-1 and claim second derby win of the season at Fahy's Field.
