U17's Claim Second League Win in Sligo   18/08/2015

U-17 Airtricity League
Sligo Rovers 2-3 Mervue Utd

Ollie Neary's side made it two wins from two games in another thrilling game as they recorded an excellent 3-2 away win over Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

Following on from the previous Saturday's exciting opening day 4-3 win over Shamrock Rovers at Fahy's Field, Neary's side added a second win of the new season.

After a scoreless first half Mervue led twice in the second period with the home side levelling matters on both occasions before Adam Murphy struck for a late winner with seven minutes remaining.

Willie Fitzgerald opened the scoring just after the break to put Mervue in front but the home side levelled matters through Thierry Baba shortly after that.

It didn't stay level for long as Sligo conceded a penalty within a minute of drawing level, as Tommy Molloy made no mistake in giving Mervue a 2-1 lead from the spot.

Sligo striker Gary Higgins then scored with a header to make it 2-2 and draw the home side level once again.

However with only seven minutes remaining Adam Murphy scored the vital winning third goal for 3-2 and claim all three points.

Neary's side will now host Salthill Devon this Saturday afternoon at Fahy's Field in the first city derby of the season, kick-off 2 pm.
