Mervue Utd players, Conor O'Malley, Conor Byrne and Conor Shaughnessy, have all been named by Republic of Ireland Under 18 manager Paul Doolin in his home based squad to face Wales later this month in Ferrycarrig Park, Wexford on the 15th February.
Both Conor O'Malley and Conor Byrne are members of the club's Airtricity Under 19 squad, while Conor Shaughnessy is currently playing with the club's under 16 and 17 sides. Salthill Devon's Jason Lyons has also been selected making it four Galway based players in the squad.
The Irish boss picked his squad with Assistant Coach Tommy Connolly from the Inter-provincial games last year. Speaking today Doolin said, 'This is my first year with the U18's so I'm delighted to be involved with the squad. It will also be my first home game since I became Head Coach back in September 2010, so I'm looking forward to working on home soil. The fixture is a great opportunity for the lads to shine. Hopefully the players will enjoy it and we get a great result in Wexford.'
Mervue Utd star Conor Shaughnessy, brother of Under 19 international Joe Shaughnessy, who featured heavily in the European Championship Squad from 2011 will also look to feature.
